Dealer and Commercial and Trading Comapny:
While often uses interchangeably, Dealers, Comercial Agents, and Trading Cmpanies play distinct roles in the supply chain. Dealers buy and sell goods for their own account, Commercial agents facilitate sales on behalf of a principal, and Trading Companies facilitate vlarge scale, international buying seling without manufacturing.
The fundamental differences across these there commercial entites dependon how they hold inventory, who they represent, and the markets they serve.
1: Dealer
A dealer is a business or individual that buys products or securities for thier own invenstory and resells them directly to end-usersor other retaliers for a profit.
Role:
They act as a principoal (not an agent). When you buy from a dealer, you are buying from their stock.
Profit Mechanism:
They make money through the markup (or the bid-ask spread), assuming the risk of holding unsold invenstory.
Examples:
Auto dealerships, electronics retailers, or securities dealers.
2: Commercial Agent
A commercial agent is an independet intermediary who negotiates and concludes sales contracts on behalf of a manufacturer (the principal) without acatually owning the products.
Role:
They act as a repersentative, meaning the contract is ultinately between the buyer and the manufacturer.
Profit Mechanism:
They do not buy or resell stock; they are compenstaed via commissions on the sales they generate.
Examples:
Insurance brokers, manufacturer sales representatives, or real estate agents.
3: Trading
A tradimg company is on enterprise that facilitates the buying and sellling of goods across differnt domestic or international markets without engaging in manufacturing.
Role:
They source prodocts globally and sell them to wholesalers of the goods in transit but do not run locallized storefronts.
Profit Mechanism:
They earn revenue though bulk purchasing discounts, logistical efflciency, and taking advantage of international trade marrgins.
Examples:
Import/export merchants, global commodity brokers, or specialized supply chain firms.
